Okay - good meeting with Dr. Temple this morning. He's wondering about the valve into her stomach - if it's too small and that could cause the nausea. So this afternoon, an x-ray of her stomach will be done and then the GI docs will look at it and if it is too small, it can be fixed with a scope and a balloon to gently enlarge the valve. At least there is a plan - I was despairing because it just seemed like - same old, same old - and that sure wasn't working. Feeling much better (me); Linda - a bit nauseated when I left but snoozy from the gravol. All other vitals are good and she was up and about this morning - we went to the Gift Shop (her first visit) and she bought a wee giftie for her Mom.

  1. Lorraine I'm glad your persistence paid off. Hope they pin down the cause of the nausea soon.

  3. Thinking of both of you and want to send a giant hug as well. Linda is up and about and wants to do more now and that is fantastic! It just lifts you spirits when you can get out and about on your own. I have a wee bit of experience with g tube fed kids and when they started to get sick sometimes it had to do with what they were giving them or the amount and or flow as well. Hopefully they will sort this out very soon and she can also go back on some oral feeds. We all miss both of you and are continuing to send strong vibes your way. Thanks again for the updates. Love Ren and Den.

  4. I'm so pleased for you that you were able to have a good talk with Dr. Temple. Through your descriptions, I have so much faith in him . . . .and I haven't even met him! What a treat for Linda to be able to get down to the main floor and try out the gift shop. Was she in shock and awe when you showed her the 3D rulers they have there?

REALLY looking forward to learning the results of the stomach x-ray and the plan from that point. I agree with your thinking. It sure seems like its time for a new "anti-nausea" plan.

You're such a terrific support and advocate, Lorraine!

  5. Hoping that tomorrow brings some more useful information about the nausea. It does seem to me, from our times spent in various icu's that the staff there are more outgoing or proactive maybe in general, perhaps that is why they are there. You will no doubt locate those on your present floor. Good going with advocating, though it does become tiring. Keep up with your rest and all Lorraine, you have such a big role to play. Love from us.
