We had many visits with Linda yesterday and each time there was more response from her - small head nods, eyes focused. She is meeting 5 out of 6 components of some scale that I can't remember the name of - the final component is 'appropriate behaviour' (meaning consistently responding to commands) (funny how medical and educational jargon overlaps!!). Talked to Melanie at 5 this am and she said she'd had a good night - a bit agitated but the respirator is sure to be irritating her throat. Still progressing, still getting better, still strong!
Uncle John and Lottie left early this morning, and JPL leave in an hour or so - was wonderful to have them all here and we will miss them all. But we will be fine.
The good news continues ... but I'm a little worried ... "appropriate behavior"? When has this lady had appropriate behavior? I think we should show one of Linda's famous powerpoint presentations (featuring Linda) to the medical staff so they have a relative scale for comparison. Thanks for the updates and looking forward to hearing about Linda's appropriate behavior!
ReplyDeletePS The whole NOYFSS gang sends positive energy and well wishes your way!
YEAH, love possitive feedback!!! Keep strong, sending you positive energy.
ReplyDeleteHOORAY, another good news day!!! Glad you had visits from Liz, Peter & Judy...
ReplyDeleteLove to All
Oh oh Appropriate behavior.....hahahaha..Good news
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful news Lorraine! The hospital is certainly doing a great job of keeping you informed. Thanks again for all the Linda news!
ReplyDelete"Appropriate What???????" Oh my my......isn't that sort of like the guy who asks the surgeon if he will be able to play the piano after the operation? The surgeon says, "Why yes, of course!" The patient says, "I've always wanted to play the piano" Well, we will all be waiting and cheering when Linda has appropriate behavior! Love to you all....positive energy surrounds you!
ReplyDeleteYes, the continuum for appropriate is hopefully wide enough to accomodate Linda's behaviour.
ReplyDeleteSO glad to hear that her responses are stronger daily. It does sound like the hospital staff are very in touch with you and that is such a good thing. Keep going, I think it must be tiring, but so many things are coming around to good outcomes. Love to you all.
Wow ... thanks for sharing your journey with me, Lorraine. What a trip. I too am concerned with any measurements of "appropriateness" ... I for sure would fail ! Tell Linda that Matthew Boyes talks about her every day. He really hopes she gets better. He misses her (and you). What would be the address to send you something ?
ReplyDeleteMay blessings fall upon you .... K
