The PICC line came out today and we've started on the Tinzaperine so we're hoping her INR (International Normalized Rate - has to do with clotting ability and time - she has to take warfarin forever because they couldn't get that bloody filter [which was supposed to stop emboli from getting to the lungs and heart] out - hmmm...kind of a rambling sentence) ascends to the recommended level.
Back to Tracy's today and I made her favorite 'hash' which she really enjoyed. She's in the enviable position of having to eat every couple of hours. What with stomach shrinkage (from having the feeding tube for many weeks) and the loss of part of her stomach - we're hoping that grazing will ensure she gets the nutrition needed and will keep her weight stable.
Lorraine, you sound like a brilliant medical student! It sounds like gobbldy goop to me but the fact that Linda is eating on a regular basis is great...... and she is so lucky to have you (a wonderful cook) preparing food to supplement the spa menu.
ReplyDeleteTake care!
Hash What is that? We are back from Vancouver! It was great! Everything I wanted! Good news on the spa front I see. Talk to you soon maybe in Vernon I hope Love Liz and Jim
ReplyDeleteI'd say that's a lot to digest... take in... but I can hear Linda saying that already! LOL Lorraine, don't know how you stay on top of all this. Like Penny said, a brilliant caregiver you are. You're lucky to have each other. sending warm hugs on a cold day. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to know that INR means International Normalized Rate. I googled it the other day and it came up as "Indian Rupee" . . . .which left me wondering if you'd both be in Calgary until global economics settled and the Indian Rupee rate increased! :-) Sure has been a lot of days with no drain, no feeding tube, and no concerns!! All signs (Including the Indian Rupee!) are great
ReplyDeleteLots of good news. It's all progress in the right direction again --and real food---Bonus! The snow is heavy, heavy, heavy here. We think of you often at Ellison.
ReplyDeletethe best,
